Spatial UI Design - Spotify

Project Overview

This project explores a new vision for Spotify, designed for the emerging world of spatial computing. The goal was to step away from traditional flat screens and create an intuitive, immersive music experience that feels like a natural part of the user's own environment. The focus was on clean aesthetics and user-friendly interaction in a three-dimensional space.

My Design Process

1. Learning the Basics I started by studying the core ideas behind spatial design. My aim was to understand how to create an interface that is both beautiful and comfortable to use when it’s not on a physical screen.

2. Developing the Concept I decided to apply these ideas to a well-loved app: Spotify. I imagined what it could look like if its interface could float in front of you. I looked at various modern designs to gather inspiration for a clean and simple look.

3. Structuring the Layout (Wireframing) Next, I created a basic structural layout. I arranged the main sections—like the navigation panel, the artist view, and album lists—in a clear and organized way. I designed the layout to have a sense of depth, placing the most important panels slightly closer to the user to naturally draw their attention.

4. Bringing it to Life (High-Fidelity Design) In the final design phase, I focused on the visual style.

Look and Feel: I used a clean, glass effect for the UI panels. This style helps the interface blend seamlessly with the user's real-world surroundings, making it feel less intrusive.

Color and Clarity: Keeping true to Spotify's identity, I used a vibrant green to highlight important buttons and information. This creates a clear and easy-to-navigate experience.

Simplicity: The overall design was kept minimal to ensure the focus remains on the music and the user experience.

Outcome The result is a clean, forward-thinking concept for how we might interact with music in the future. This project was a valuable exercise in adapting a popular service for a new and exciting form of interaction, focusing on simplicity and user comfort.
